Tips for Adapting to the Summer Heat
Man, it was Hot Out There! I was going great, and then...
Adapting to the heat of Texas Summers is an absolutely critical part of training for cyclists. When we move through the air, we end up deceived by the evaporation of sweat, which provides a small cooling effect, and heavier moisture content in our respiration. However, heat really is the enemy, as our bodies are forced to handle heat from our muscles and organs, and also from the environment. Read Full Summer Heat Tips Blog Post
How Can I Improve, Rich?
Here in North Texas, rally season is in full swing, after what ended up becoming a weird, wet, and mostly colder spring that kept more riders inside than outside enjoying the rides. Prep for Hotter'n Hell 100
8 Weeks, Mid Summer
The most popular event for cyclists in North Texas lives up to its name with the physical heat of August and the heat from the speeds you'll hit as you steam across the prairie in and around Wichita Falls, TX.
Beat the stagnant, polluted air of summer and get ready to set new personal records as you join us inside for performance intervals that prime your threshold and tempo values. The HH100 is all about stamina, and you'll build on your early season form as you relax just enough to let the legs and lungs recover, then push ever-so-modestly toward new wattage highs in long-duration intervals.
Get the Jump on NEXT Season!
12 weeks, Fall
All men and women are created equal ... some just train harder in the preseason! This 12-week program is dedicated to improving your efficiency and threshold power through tempo sweet spot training and threshold efforts, with the odd hill climb protocol thrown in here and there to keep your legs guessing.
When you combine this class with the concurrent rallies and late-season races (including the state road race championships), you'll discover an increased capacity for stamina and speed without sacrificing strength in hills or sprints. Base training has a new definition, and these intervals are perfect for prepping the body for the demands it will face in the upcoming year.
