April Progress Report

Let me first of all congratulate client Stephanie Bassin for her 1st Place finish in teh 1/2 IM in New Orleans a few weeks ago. She has trained hard for YEARS, and it's paying off. Job well done, Steph! April started out a little unorganized, as the Cycling Center's quarter started off right at the beginning of the Passover and Easter holidays. As a result, we did not get all Threshold Testing done until mid-month or so. Still, the numbers are good, and we will be using them for the next several weeks. For most of the classes, the program will be based on Stamina/Threshold workouts on the first day of the week, then a seriously hard set of Anaerobic Intervals on the second day of the week. When interviewing classes, it's hard to tell which one they despise more - the pain of a steady, hard, long interval that is mentally tough, or the searing pain of a number of short, sharp, painful intervals which don't allow for adequate recovery - just like a real ride. You can see the suffering in their faces, but it's also accompanied by a strong smile when done. The Loncar Group will be focusing completely on Threshold and Vo2 workouts, in the Aero position as much as possible. Since most of them are triathletes, the emphasis has to be on stamina, and maybe a little on climbing, but honestly, they're doing pretty well under the tutelage of coach Scott Eder. They come in to class right out of the pool, so they're already fatigued, and the whole group goes out for a fun after the MultiRider class ends. It's pretty impressive. Look for updates to the "Wall of Fame" next week. The web developer was unavailable until Monday.
